Life Wells

Imagine getting up in the morning!  You turn on the tap but there's no water.  You go to the kitchen to make some coffee - there's no water.  Suddenly you notice the pile of dishes in the sink.  You open the tap but there's no water!  You try to cook, do laundry, clean the house - no water.  Imagine not even having clean water for your children to drink!

Well, this is the every day plight of tens of thousands of people in South East Asia.  Villages do not have access to clean drinking water.  They walk for hours to the river or a contaminated, shallow village well to fetch a day's supply of water for their household.

The situation is worse for Christians or an "untouchable cast."  Often they're treated as second class citizen and barred from drawing water from the village well.  In the remote region of far west Nepal, 5,000-7,000 people - mostly children, die every year due to lack of safe drinking water.

But God is good.  We're building Life Wells.  A Life Well is a testimony of God's goodness that allows people of all religion and cast to draw water without restriction.  This starts a dialogue and creates goodwill towards the local believers.  As a result they start talking about the Living Water available through our Lord.
